Sarah Whittingham is an in demand violinist and educator working mainly in and around Manchester where she plays first violin with Manchester Camerata, one of Europe's leading Chamber Orchestras and the world famous Hallé Orchestra. She also performs and records with a wide variety of contemporary artists from Michael Bublé to ballet star Carlos Acosta and is available as a session artist for studio and live work. Sarah has a busy schedule of live performances and recent shows including contrasting sold out gigs at The Royal Albert Hall with Hacienda Classical and then with The Hallé for the BBC Proms.
Sarah is involved in a variety of education projects, including the In Harmony/ El Sistema project, which has seen very young musicians from the Midlands play in North America and Europe and Camerata's many other community projects all around the UK.
A long time member of Manchester Camerata Sarah also performs and records with The Northern Chamber Orchestra and the Manchester Chamber Ensemble.
Sarah also teaches privately from her home in North Staffordshire, helping violinists of all ages achieve their potential and students of all levels improve their music theory.
Recent and current projects include The Hacienda classical concerts, recording with the Hallé Orchestra, Michael Bublé live at the BBC, live Hallé broadcasts on BBC TV and Radio, playing with Camerata in Valencia & Budapest & with Nicola Benedetti. Live shows with Katherine Jenkins, Russell Watkins, Lesley Garrett and the Electric Proms with The Last Shadow Puppets, touring with Cuban ballet star Carlos Acosta and shows at The Lowry Theatre with contemporary dance group, Clod Ensemble.
